CAFE

The Carnegie Adaptive Filtering Engine (CAFE) is a system designed to help individual, autonomous Web searchers without skills in languages other than English prepare short papers that provide detailed discussions or recommendations based on facts found in original source materials written in any language.CAF0‡7 uses adaptive filtering to extract and recommend useful passages of text from documents based on the Web searcherĄ¯s needs. The goal is to reduce the time and effort needed by the Web searcher to find important information within a huge volume of data.CAFE also provides a fully-integrated mechanism (i.e. the "shoebox") for collecting, storing, organizing, and annotating information deemed useful.
